NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A New Jersey volunteer fire company chief was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman two years ago, according to prosecutors.

Michael Trimarchi, 55, of Manchester Township, the fire chief of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, was charged with sexual assault and criminal sexual contact, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced.

On Sept. 6, a survivor contacted the Manchester Township Police Department to report that she was sexually assaulted by Trimarchi on Aug. 10, 2022.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Special Victim's Unit investigated the incident and revealed that Trimarchi allegedly sexually assaulted the victim while she was sitting in a car on that date.

On Oct. 7, detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office executed a court-authorized search warrant on Trimarchi's residence.

He was taken into custody at the residence without incident and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains lodged pending a detention hearing.

"If anyone is in possession of additional information regarding Mr. Trimarchi or this investigation, please contact Sergeant Stephanie Bayha of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3861," Billhimer said.

An investigation is ongoing.
