Driver, 94, fatally drags woman, 75, through NJ library parking lot

PARAMUS, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 75-year-old woman was killed over the weekend when a 94-year-old driver dragged her through the parking lot of a New Jersey library, police said.

The driver was exiting the rear parking lot of the Paramus Public Library around 12:45 p.m. Saturday when she struck Helen Koons with a Toyota Corolla and dragged her 20 feet, according to police.

Koons, of Paramus, suffered severe injuries, including to her head, and was pronounced dead Sunday morning at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The driver, a Paramus woman, faces charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian and careless driving.
