New York Knicks offer playoff tickets as latest vaccine incentive

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday announced that the New York Knicks will begin offering tickets as vaccine incentives for New Yorkers.

“New Yorkers have always dreamed of getting a chance at a clutch shot at Madison Square Garden. Now is your chance to get that shot, help win the game against COVID and enter for a chance to see the Knicks make a historic playoff run with a truly special team. Thank you to the Knicks and Madison Square Garden for making this possible,” de Blasio said.

Individuals 16 and older, who get their COVID-19 vaccine at The Pennsy Food Hall, located outside of Madison Square Garden, will have a chance to win tickets to Wednesday night’s Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks playoff game or to a later game.

“We want to encourage all New Yorkers to get vaccinated. The process is safe, simple, and convenient. Let’s go get vaccinated, and let’s go Knicks!” said Knicks legend Allan Houston, who joined the mayor during his briefing.

Knicks legends Walt "Clyde" Frazier and John Starks will be at the Pennsy today and Thursday and the Knicks City Dancers will be onsite to help welcome individuals, who will also get a chance to receive Knicks merchandise as well.

“The incredible response to the Knicks playoff run has shown us how excited New Yorkers are to get back to doing the things they love, and the way that can happen is for all of us to get vaccinated,” said Rich Constable, EVP of Social Impact, MSG Entertainment. “We’re pleased to partner with the Mayor to create this central and accessible vaccination site that we hope will encourage anyone who still needs to get vaccinated to do so – it’s a vital next step to getting back to normal.”
