
NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — An officer was injured after being struck by a stolen vehicle Tuesday night in Newark, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. near Quitman and Spruce streets, police said.
According to officials, the officer spotted a white Mercedes Benz that fit the description of a stolen vehicle out of Elizabeth.

The driver noticed police presence and pulled off, striking the officer, police said.
“Upon becoming aware of police presence, the driver pulled off, striking the officer,” Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said.
The officer was taken to University Hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition, authorities said.
No arrests have been made and officials later recovered the vehicle at Livingston Street.
An investigation remains ongoing.
