NJ police officer accused of shoplifting while on security duty at local Marshalls

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey police officer was charged on Thursday for allegedly shoplifting while working an overtime shift as a security guard at a Marshalls store in Paterson, according to prosecutors.

Jeury DeJesus-Rodriguez, 25, is accused of stealing several items of clothing from the Marshalls in Paterson’s Center City Mall. Authorities said that he took the clothes, valued at $66.97, into an employee bathroom where he removed the packaging and price tags before leaving the store without paying.

DeJesus-Rodriguez has been charged with third-degree official misconduct and a shoplifting disorderly persons offense, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes.
