POTSDAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police made an arrest in the murder case of a 21-year-old SUNY Potsdam student who was fatally shot just off campus Saturday.

Police arrested Michael J. Snow, 31, and charged him with one count of second degree murder.
He’s currently being held at St. Lawrence County Jail with no bail. If found guilty, he could face life in prison.
Elizabeth Howell, a SUNY Potsdam music student, was found lying on College Park road with gunshot wounds around 5:51 p.m. on Friday.
It’s unclear whether Howell and Snow knew each other, but the school said the shooter had no affiliation with the college.
The New York State Police told 1010 WINS there is no further information regarding the shooting and that the investigation is ongoing.
SUNY Potsdam said Elizabeth was a cellist and an aspiring educator.
“We are in disbelief at the sudden loss of one of our own, Elizabeth Howell '22, a music education student at our Crane School of Music,” wrote the school’s official Twitter account. “Our thoughts are with all of Beth’s friends and family during this difficult time.”
The school is currently holding memorial services for her, and has canceled classes on Monday.
