NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The body of a man who had been missing since falling off a boat while fishing with his 14-year-old son in Northport Bay over the weekend has been found.
Suffolk County Police said 50-year-old Christopher Calma fell into the water while reaching for a fishing pole at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Bethpage man was not wearing a life jacket at the time and reportedly could not swim.
The teenage son called his mother, who then called police, according to Newsday.
The teen was not hurt.
Police recovered the man's body in Northport Bay on Thursday.
Marine Bureau officers, the United States Coast Guard, multiple fire departments, Nassau County Police and the Huntington Harbor Master assisted in the search.
