NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Fran Drescher isn't a wallflower and doesn't mince words. After all, she's spoken publicly about her divorce, being sexually assaulted and her battle with uterine cancer.

So it comes as no surprise that the Queens native -- aka "Fran Fine" to "The Nanny" fans -- has strong views about last week's leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion overturning Roe. v. Wade.

"When any kind of judicial body thinks it's OK to legislate a woman's body, it's a slippery slope toward justifying violence toward women," Drescher, 61, told 1010 WINS, at a reception Thursday night at Manhattan's Robert restaurant at the Museum of Arts & Design for her the book "N is for 'The Nanny.'"

Drescher added that the focus on seeking to ban abortion rights has been misguided for years.

"For for the same energy over all these decades, I would have had rather seen the effort for a more female-friendly society where moms know that they're going to be supported cradle-to-grave, and you would have seen a reduction in abortions just because they wouldn't be between a rock and hard place," Drescher said.

And citing her aforementioned remarks, Drescher, who is president of SAG-AFTRA, said, "Why not go that route and start allowing women to feel supported. And instead that wasn't the choice that was made. It was always trying to legislate a woman's body. If you're going to legislate a woman's body. Then you got to legislate the penis that got her in this mess. Otherwise it's sexist."
