IN DEPTH PODCAST: Why race and politics are center stage in the Ketanji Brown Jackson hearings

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- This week, the whole country watched as Democrats and Republicans grilled President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. Should she be confirmed, she’ll be the first Black woman of color to serve on the nation’s top court.

Ketanji Brown Jackson, nominated to be a U.S. Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit, is sworn in to testify before a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on pending judicial nominations on Capitol Hill, April 28, 2021 in Washington, DC. The committee is holding the hearing on pending judicial nominations.

With enough Democratic votes, it seems as if the country is about to shatter another glass ceiling. However, over the course of confirmation hearings so far, the behavior and questions of some senators have revealed an agenda that clearly has nothing to do with Jackson’s views, merits, or qualifications at all.

On the latest episode of "1010 WINS In Depth," listen as host Femi Redwood explores the surprising spectacle the Senate confirmation hearings have become so far, as well as why race and politics are playing a much larger role in this nomination than anyone would have expected.
