House Democrats will introduce Article of Impeachment against Trump on Monday, Rep. Ted Lieu announces

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- House Democrats will introduce the Article of Impeachment against President Trump on Monday, California congressman Ted Lieu announced Saturday afternoon. (Read the entire Article of Impeachment below.)

"We’ve just hit 180 cosponsors of the Article of Impeachment drafted by Rep @davidcicilline, @RepRaskin, me and @HouseJudiciary staff," Lieu tweeted Saturday afternoon. "We will introduce the Article of Impeachment this Monday during the House’s pro forma session.

Democrats began laying out plans Friday for impeaching Trump, circulating a draft of a new impeachment resolution against him with one article of impeachment, "incitement of insurrection."

White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere slammed the prospect of impeachment, saying, "As President Trump said yesterday, this is a time for healing and unity as one Nation. A politically motivated impeachment against a President with 12 days remaining in his term will only serve to further divide our great country."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during a conference call Friday, “We must take action.
