NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rudy Giuliani had an apparent hair mishap Thursday during a press conference in Washington at the Republican National Committee headquarters, during which it appeared that hair dye-infused sweat was dripping down the former New York City mayor's face.

And it was actually the Trump campaign that pointed out the streaks running down his face -- albeit unintentionally.

On the Trump campaign's Twitter feed, it was broadcasting live the press conference. Two voices, Trump campaign workers assuming those watching the stream can't be heard, then comment on the hair mishap. "Can they hear us on the stream? I guess not," a person could be heard saying on the video.

"I don't think so," another person replied.

Then the first person says, "You see f****** Rudy's hair dye dripping down his face," a male says, who then makes further remarks, but they're inaudible. "I just saw it pop up on the screen." (LISTEN BELOW)

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), a union that represents hair stylists and other beauty professionals, took the opportunity to remind the public, "Here's why you should hire union hair and makeup professionals."

The New York Times did a deep dive into the incident, and found that not every hair stylist was convinced it was hair dye.

Mirko Vergani, the creative color director at Manhattan salon Drawing Room, said it was more likely Giuliani had used mascara or a touch-up pen on his sideburns.

"Sideburns are more gray than the rest of the head," he told the Times. "You can apply mascara to touch the gray side up a bit so it looks more natural."

Gene Sarcinello, a stylist and colorist at Takamichi Hair, said all signs point to a bad hair dye job.

"If it's not washed out properly, that's what's going to happen," he said, adding that the dye could be spray-on. "Not knowing exactly what he has on his hair, it's hair-color related definitely."
