Psaki, who has served as Biden’s press secretary since he took office and been a fixture at press conferences on the Ukraine-Russia war, is in exclusive talks to join the news network when she departs the administration in May, Axios first reported Friday. Sources later confirmed the report to CNBC and The Hill.

She’d host a show for MSNBC on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, as well as take part in live programming on MSNBC, according to the Axios report, which said she won’t replace Rachel Maddow, as some had speculated.

The news comes after weeks of speculation that Psaki, 43, may leave the White House to pursue a TV job. Puck News reported in February that she was being courted by CNN and MSNBC, among others.

While no contracts have been signed, two sources told Axios that Psaki has been in frequent discussions with the White House counsel's office about her plans.

Some senior White House officials are aware of her upcoming departure, but she hasn’t formally announced the move to the press team, the sources said.

The White House has not commented on the reports.
