NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Expect to see "movement" on a stimulus bill over the next 48 hours that may involve tweaks including an increase in those lucrative $1,200 checks, the White House said Wednesday.

"We are committed to getting a stimulus package," White House communications director Alyssa Farah told reporters. "I think this is the best we felt about it. ... we can see some movement in the next 48 hours."

And what about those $1,200 checks? "The president's position is we're willing to go up on the number for PPP loans and the direct payments," Farah said.

"Some of the issues still surround state and local and some of the other issues but we're at the table, conversations are happening," she added. "I think it's kind of the best place we've been in, so cautious optimism."

But on Tuesday Sen. Mitch McConnell, privately told GOP senators that he has advised Trump against striking a deal with the Democrats prior to the election, since many in the party won't accept it, The New York Times reported.

Making matters more confusing, a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi said on Tuesday that she and Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, had found "common ground as they move closer to an agreement."

And Pelosi herself said Tuesday that she was “optimistic:" a deal could be reached with in the coming days.
