NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A school bus driver allegedly dozing off and crashing into a house in Howell on Tuesday morning was issued two tickets, police said.
The 22-year-old driver has been issued summonses for careless driving and not wearing a seat belt, Howell police told NJ.com.
The worker was driving a full-sized bus from Jay’s Bus Service driving on Asbury Road around 7:15 a.m. when he hit a utility pole and a mailbox before colliding with the side of a house.
There were no students inside the bus as the driver had completed a drop-off at Howell High School.
The family inside the home, including two children aged 4 and 6, were in another part of the house and were not harmed.
The driver, however, was hospitalized for head injuries.
The impact caused major damage to the residence and the family will be staying with a relative as it is repaired.
