OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A pilot survived a small plane crash on Long Island on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
A call about the crash in Old Bethpage went out around 1:05 p.m., Nassau County Police told 1010 WINS.
The twin-engine Cessna C421 crashed at the Old Bethpage Waste Disposal Complex on Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road, officials said. The complex is about 1.5 miles from Republic Airport in East Farmingdale.
Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino said the pilot survived the crash and was the only person on board.
The pilot had reported engine problems before the crash, the FAA said in a statement.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
