2 men arrested after stealing running SUV from Long Island KFC, leading cops on foot chase

BALDWIN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Two men were arrested for stealing a running SUV outside of a Long Island Kentucky Fried Chicken on Wednesday night, authorities said.

According to detectives, at 9:47 p.m., a 60-year-old man left his 2015 Toyota Rav4 running and entered Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 1221 Grand Ave. in Baldwin.

When the man returned to the parking spot, he realized it was stolen and immediately called 911.

A short time later, police observed the vehicle traveling Westbound on E. Seaman Avenue in the vicinity of N. Columbus Avenue in Freeport, cops said.

Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop. A male passenger exited the vehicle and fled scene on foot but was apprehended nearby and placed into custody.

The driver remained at scene and was arrested without incident.

Joseph Felton, 32, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Patrick Knight, 34, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property. They will be arraigned on Thursday.
