NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men are facing murder charges for the fatal shooting of a man on Long Island in September, Nassau County officials announced Thursday.

According to police, at 12:13 a.m. Sept. 11, officers responded to Wayside Lane in Wantagh, where officers located 32-year-old Yinauri Taveras on the side of the road with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at scene.

Taveras was originally from Amityville but had recently been splitting time between Puerto Rico and Westbury, officials said.

Detectives on Wednesday arrested Anderson Ramirez, 34, of Central Islip, and Alex R. DeLarosa, 27, of Bay Shore.

Both are charged with robbery and murder. They were arraigned Thursday.

Two other men face lesser charges and a fifth man, Johnny "Flaco" Rodriguez, is still on the run.

At a news conference Thursday, Nassau police Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said the shooting was targeted, with the victim being followed and then shot.

"Five males had previous dealings with him and had disputes with him," Fitzpatrick said. "They followed him, caused a rear-end accident, forcing him to pull over the car. When he went out to discover the damages on the car, they attempted to rob him and shot him there on the scene."

Police said it wasn't about drugs but other transactions.

"The perception of being ripped off by him, acted out this revenge or retribution to get back property from him," Fitzpatrick said.
