Cuomo's LI COVID update: 3 mass vaccination sites open Friday, Bethpage Air Show will take place

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Three new mass vaccination sites will open on Long Island later this week — and the Bethpage Air Show will return in May, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.

The following vaccination sites will open on Friday, March 19 and run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, Cuomo said at a news briefing Monday afternoon:

SUNY Old Westbury
SUNY Old Westbury
Clark Center - Gate C
Store Hill Road and Cherry Road
Old Westbury NY 11568

SCCC Brentwood
Suffolk County Community College
Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena
1001 Crooked Hill Road
Brentwood, NY 11717

Southampton
SUNY Stony Brook Southampton Campus
70 Tuckahoe Road
Southampton, NY 11968

Eligible New Yorkers will be able to start scheduling appointments at the three sites at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, by using the state’s “Am I Eligible” website or by calling the state’s COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

“We’re committed to quickly expanding the state’s vaccine distribution network to get shots in arms as quickly and efficiently as possible, and these three sites will help Long Islanders access the vaccine and gain some peace of mind as we continue battling the pandemic,” Cuomo said in a statement.

The governor on Monday also announced that the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park, which was canceled due to COVID-19 last year, will take place Friday, May 28 through Sunday, May 30.

“As we continue to see progress in our fight against COVID and cautiously reopen our state, we can look forward to enjoying more and more outdoor adventures this summer — including the annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park,” he said in a statement.

“With safety measures in place, New Yorkers and visitors can get back to enjoying all that Jones Beach and Long Island State Parks have to offer, and this annual festival is a great way to get outdoors and support the regional Long Island economy,” he added.
