Three of the deaths happened while the victims were shoveling snow on Saturday.

Two of the deaths occured in Syosset, Long Island where authorities found both victims outside.

The first was around 2:30 p.m. on Barbara Drive where a 75-year-old man collapsed in the snow. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

At around 10:40 p.m., a 53-year-old man was discovered on Belmont Circle lying on his back with a shovel beside him. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

On Saturday morning, an elderly Cutchogue, Long Island man was found unresponsive in a swimming pool. Police said he was shoveling snow when he fell in and drowned.

Earlier in the day, an elderly Long Island woman was found dead in her vehicle by a snow plow driver. Though her official cause of death has not yet been confirmed, officials believe she suffered an urgent health event and was not able to get to help in the blizzard.

On Sunday, Gov. Kathy Hochul said the storm hit Long Island especially hard with some areas seeing 24.7 inches of snow accumulation.
