NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Six men were arrested for a gang assault slashing that took place during a graduation ceremony being held at Hofstra University on Wednesday.

According to detectives, at about 4:20 p.m., officers were called to the campus located at 1000 Hempstead Ave. for reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, police determined that two men were involved in a dispute that escalated.

One victim was slashed in the back of his left thigh and another was slashed on his right ear, authorities said.

Police arrested Isaiah Moore, 19, Dovon Moore, 19, Devon Fenner, 18, Zachariah Fulton, 19, Unique Pruitt, 21, and Taiwan Jackson, 23.

They were all charged with attempted gang assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
