SELDEN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County detectives are investigating after a teen bicyclist was critically injured by a driver Thursday night on Long Island.
Just before 10 p.m., Abel Bonilla, 15, was riding a bicycle southbound across Middle Country Road at the intersection of Marshall Drive in Selden, when he pedaled in front of a westbound 2018 Nissan Altima and was struck.
Bonilla was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
The 26-year-old driver of the Nissan was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
