NORTH NEW HYDE PARKN.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a Brooklyn man for a violent burglary at a Long Island home on Christmas, authorities said Tuesday.
According to detectives, at 4:16 p.m., 37-year-old Kar Toong showed up to a Robby Lane residence in North New Hyde Park to confront his former employer about being terminated.
Toong began yelling and cursing outside the home, officials said.
The home owner's son, 48, and grandson, 7, opened the front door to question the man's conduct. Toong then kicked the door, forcibly entered the house and began to strike him with a closed fist.
The boy's grandmother, 74, tried to intervene and injured her left hand.
Toong was forced out of the residence and he proceeded to kick the passenger door of a 2014 Toyota Sienna.
Responding officers arrested Toong.
The man, 48, and woman, 74, both suffered from pain and swelling to their hands.
An ambulance responded for evaluation and treatment. Both victims refused further medical treatment.
Toong is charged with burglary, assault, criminal mischief, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He will be arraigned on Tuesday.
