Driver who struck teen girl riding bike, fled on LI sought by police

SHIRLEY N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County police are searching for the driver of a car who struck a teen girl riding her bike on Long Island then fled the scene, authorities said Thursday.

According to officials, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on August 14, a 14-year-old girl was riding her bicycle southbound on Flintock Drive at the intersection of Maple Lane in Shirley, when a white four-door sedan traveling westbound stopped at the intersection and then accelerated, striking and knocking the teenager to the ground.


The vehicle fled the scene without stopping.

The teen girl was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital via ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers announced a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
