EAST GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Officials launched an investigation after human remains were found near a Long Island shopping mall Tuesday afternoon.
According to detectives, at about 2:19 p.m., officers received a 911 call for possible human remains in the wooded area located in the rear of 700 Dibblee Dr. near Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City.
Upon arrival, authorities noticed an abandoned encampment and discovered human remains.
The body was removed from scene and taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for further examination.
The investigation is ongoing.
