
WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Nassau County officials arrested an "irate" Queens man for assaulting two police officers while aboard a Nassau Inter-County Express bus on Long Island Wednesday afternoon.
According to detectives, at about at 1:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance by an irate male passenger on a NICE bus at Hempstead Avenue and Westminster Road in West Hempstead.
Upon arrival, officers approached Palo Howe, 45, of Woodside, who began attacking them, authorities said.
Two officers sustained injuries as Howe was violent and combative while resisting arrest. Both officers were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.
Howe was also transported to an area hospital.
He was charged with two counts of assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and will be arraigned on Thursday.
