NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Joseph Bruno, the former state Senate majority leader, has died at age 91.
Bruno, who served as the majority leader from 1994 to 2008, died Wednesday morning after a battle with cancer, the Albany Times Union reported.
New York state Republican Committee Chairman Nick Langworthy confirmed Bruno's death in a tweet.
"There aren't adequate words to encapsulate Joe Bruno's life and legacy, but simply put, he was a giant," he wrote. "A true man of the people, he brought his boxing spirit, charm and wit to everything he did."
