NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Long Island man, whose case of police brutality resulted in the downfall of several officials, was indicted on Thursday for allegedly violently attacking an 89-year-old woman inside her home, according to prosecutors.

Christopher Loeb, 37, of Smithtown, was indicted for allegedly pushing the victim to the ground and throwing a metal plant stand at her leg, fracturing her femur, according to court documents.

According to the indictment, he allegedly went into the victim's kitchen and broke glass plates, dinner chairs and a butcher's block stand on Jan. 12.

He then allegedly grabbed the victim and pushed her to the ground. The victim stood up and called 911 as Loeb allegedly continued to break other items around the house, including damaging the front door.

Loeb then allegedly threw a metal plant stand at the victim's right leg, causing a fractured femur, along with pain and bruising.

"Violence against anyone should never be tolerated, but it is especially reprehensible when that violence is directed against an elderly woman in their own home," Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney said.

When cops arrived, they found the victim on the floor in her living room where she fell after the alleged assault.

According to court documents, Loeb was pacing around the second floor of the house and was holding a broken table leg which cops took before arresting him.

The victim was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

Loeb's police brutality incident in 2012 led to the arrest of several law enforcement officers. Former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke admitted in federal court to assaulting Loeb, who was handcuffed at the time, during an interrogation about stealing a bag containing sex toys and porn from Burke's car.

Burke, who served most of a 46-month sentence for this and related charges, was released from prison in 2018.

Former Suffolk County District Attorney Tom Spota and his deputy, Christopher McPartland were also convicted for their roles in covering up Burke's actions. While McPartland and Burke have been released, Spota is still serving his sentence.

Recently, Burke faced new charges for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover male officer.

The trial led to a $1.5 million settlement paid by Suffolk to Loeb for a police brutality lawsuit.

On Thursday, Loeb was indicted for two counts of assault in the second degree, and one count of criminal mischief.

He is being held on $75,000 cash, $150,000 bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case.

Loeb is due back in court on Feb. 15.
