NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Long Island man who pulled his car over after getting into a fender-bender on an expressway died when a FedEx cargo truck hit his vehicle, police said Wednesday.

Neville Stephan, 29, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was driving a Honda sedan east on the Long Island Expressway around 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday when he and a driver in a Nissan sedan collided as they were both trying to turn onto Exit 60, Suffolk County police said.

Stephan and the other driver got out of their cars to inspect the damage, police said. When Stephan got back into his car, a FedEx cargo truck driver traveling east on the expressway hit his vehicle, according to police.

Stephan was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Nissan sedan driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to police.

The FedEx cargo truck driver stayed at the scene and hadn't been charged in connection with Stephan's death as of Wednesday, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
