ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Nassau County officials arrested a man accused of pretending to be cop then cuffing a woman arguing with his girlfriend Sunday night on Long Island.
According to detectives, Leonardo Argueta, 57, approached a woman, 31, at Ruby Deli located at 151 Nassau Rd. who was having a dispute with his girlfriend.
Argueta verbally identified himself as an undercover police detective and put the victim in handcuffs.
When the victim and bystanders threatened to call the police, Argueta removed the handcuffs and fled the scene, police said.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested Argueta on Monday without incident.
Argueta was charged with criminal impersonation and unlawful imprisonment.
He was released on an appearance ticket returnable on Friday, Oct. 11.
