CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in a homeless encampment on Long Island Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. officials discovered a man's body inside a tent-like enclosure on the southside of Suffolk Avenue, near Carleton Avenue in Central Islip.
A preliminary investigation and exam regarding the man's cause of death was inconclusive, authorities said.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the victim's cause of death.
He has not yet been identified by police.
