
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Officials arrested a woman accused of assaulting an officer after she was arrested for smashing a door during an argument at a Long Island home early Christmas Day, Nassau County police said.
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance on Suggs Lane at 4:20 a.m. in Hicksville.
Upon arrival, responding officers determined that a 52-year-old woman was involved in an argument with Stephanie Ceballos, 31, which escalated.
Ceballos broke the front the door and a physical altercation occurred resulting in her striking the woman in the face, authorities said.
She was arrested at the scene without incident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. At the hospital, Ceballos allegedly became violent and combative, striking a Nassau County Police officer in the face.
The officer suffered swelling, bruising and substantial pain, police said.
Ceballos faces assault and criminal mischief charges. She will be arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 26.
