Long Island house fire kills woman, injures 2 men

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Long Island house fire killed one woman and seriously injured two men on Thursday night, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Officers responded to a 911 caller reporting a fire at 11:11 p.m. at a residence in Lindenhurst. Three people inside the home were taken out of the house by police and first responders.


A woman, who is yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine her identity and cause of death.

Two men, who are also yet to be identified, were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment.

Two patrol officers were also transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of smoke inhalation and released. There were no other people in the house at the time of the fire, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but police said that it "does not appear to be criminal at this time."
