MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man died after flood waters from Tropical Storm Ida swamped his car with flood water, Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said.

Alan Dorsainvil ,33, was found unconscious by a passerby early Thursday morning inside of his car after flood waters receded, she said.

Patterson-Howard said it appears that Dorsainvil drove into "deep standing water" on South Columbus Avenue causing the vehicle to become inoperable.

"As the water flooding the roadway became deeper it appears Mr.Dorsainvil became trapped in his vehicle, which quickly filled with water," she added.

Mount Vernon Police responded and found the man unresponsive with nearly a foot of water still in the vehicle, the mayor said.

Patterson-Howard said the victim's cause of death is unknown and the medical examiner is investigating.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer told CNN earlier Thursday that three people in the county died due to the storm.
