LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- The Homicide Squad is investigating a fatal car accident early involving a pedestrian that occurred on Long Island early Monday.
According to detectives, at about 1:20 a.m., a 67-year-old man was attempting to cross in the vicinity of 1100 Marcus Avenue in Lake Success when he was struck by a 2020 Jeep traveling westbound on Marcus Avenue.

The man suffered multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, offcials said.
The 43-year-old driver of the car remained at the scene.
The vehicle was brake and safety checked prior to being impounded, authorities said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
