NORTH LONG BEACH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Two men were arrested Thursday morning for attacking and robbing a couple who invited them into their Long Island hotel room, according to Nassau County officials.

According to detectives, at about 5:30 a.m., a woman invited the men to their motel room in North Long Beach.

Shortly after arriving, Ishmel Owens, 32, began punching the man in the chest while he was laying down in the room's bed.

Simultaneously, Kylil Freeman, 28, grabbed the woman and put her in a chokehold.

Owens then told the man that he had to go with them to an ATM and withdraw all of his money or they would kill the woman.

The man victim complied with the suspects and got into a Red Kia Forte with them. They drove him to a local 7-11 and he proceeded to the back of the store towards the ATM.

At this point he called 911 and patrol units responded and arrested Owens and Freeman.

During the search of the two men, officers located a white powdery substance in defendant Owens's pocket.

Owens was charged with attempted grand larceny, attempted robbery, criminal possession of a controlled substance, menacing, assault, and unlawful imprisonment.

Freeman is charged with attempted grand larceny, attempted robbery, and unlawful imprisonment.

They will be arraigned at First District Court on Friday.
