MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a man Saturday afternoon after over a hundred cases of fireworks and hundreds were seized from his Long Island home.

According to detectives, at 3:30 p.m., Michael Masone, 37, was placed under arrest during an investigation conducted by the Arson Bomb Squad at his home located on East Shore Road in Massapequa.


After a thorough investigation, detectives seized 113 cases of fireworks and 400 mortars belonging to Masone.

Masone is charged with explosives–licenses and certificates, unlawful storage of explosives and unlawfully possessing fireworks.

He was arraigned on Sunday, July 2.

The Nassau County Police Department reminds its residents that the use of explosives, including fireworks, is illegal and extremely dangerous.
