ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 40-year-old man was arrested after he approached and threatened a teen at a Long Island high school earlier this week, Nassau County officials said Thursday.

Eybin Umana was charged with menacing, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to detectives, at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, a 17-year-old boy was approached by Umana at Roosevelt High School located at 1 Wagner Ave. and was involved in a verbal argument.

Umana then lifted his shirt and exposed the handle of a black firearm that was tucked into his waistband and told the teen to wait for him in the parking lot, officials said.

The teen ran from scene and notified police. Umana left scene on foot, walking southbound on Denton Place.

Umana is set to be arraigned on Thursday.
