LAKEVIEW, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a man accused of breaking into a Long Island gas station early Monday after an employee told him that it was closed.
According to detectives, at 2:41 a.m., John Masone, 55, walked up to the front entrance of an Exxon Gas Station located at 820 Hempstead Ave. in Lakeview and attempted to enter.
A 51-year-old male employee inside notified Masone that the building was closed.
Masone then became agitated and broke the front door and entered, police said.
A physical altercation occurred in which the employee sustained minor injuries.
Responding police officers arrested Masone.
The worker was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Masone was charged with burglary, assault and criminal mischief.
He will be arraigned on Monday.
