Man chased down LI street, shot after confrontation at gas station

MASTIC BEACH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a man Thursday night on Long Island following an altercation with another man in front of a gas station.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., a man fired a gun into the sidewalk during a dispute at the Track Gas Station located at 310 Neighborhood Rd. in Mastic Beach before he fled on foot.


The other man followed and confronted the shooter in front of 29C Commack Rd. in Mastic Beach, and the shooter then shot him in the torso at approximately 7 p.m., officials said.

The shooter then fled on foot westbound on Commack Road.

The 38-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
