LE VITTOWN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Queens man was arrested for smashing a door then stealing over a dozen beers from a Long Island store early Sunday morning, police said.
According to detectives, at 2:15 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at E Smoke & Beer Island located at 3811 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the front glass door had been smashed.
Officers conducted an investigation and determined that Leondre D. Bent, 28, threw a brick through the front glass door then entered the store and took an 18 pack of Budweiser beer from a shelf.
Officials located Bent, a Jamaica resident, in the vicinity of the store. He was placed under arrest in front of 3145 Hempstead Turnpike, authorities said.
Bent was charged with burglary, criminal, mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.
He was arraigned on Sunday.
