Man tries to lure boy, 11, walking home from school on LI: police

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Police on Long Island are investigating an attempted luring incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

An 11-year-old boy said he was walking home from school on Oceanside Road near Arrow Street in Oceanside around 3 p.m. when he was approached by a man driving a light-colored SUV, according to Nassau County Police.

The man allegedly told the boy that he had been sent by the child's mother to pick him up.

The boy was suspicious of the story and refused to comply. He called his mother and the police were then notified.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s wearing a black baseball hat.

The investigation remains ongoing.
