ARMONK, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Officers responding to a call of a person needing medical assistance at a Westchester home shot a man who attacked them with a knife on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
At around 12:30 p.m., North Castle officers and EMS entered the home located at 14 Hallock Pl. in Armonk for a 78-year-old woman in need of medical assistance, police said.
The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
While at the residence, police learned of a 38-year-old man who lived there and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. While attempting to detain him, the man brandished a knife and attacked one of the officers.
The other officer fired and shot the man twice, injuring him.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both officers were treated for minor injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing.
