COMMACK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County police are investigating after a 67-year-old-man man was seriously injured by a firework on Long Island Sunday night.
According to detectives, the man was attending a block party at 10 p.m. on Diellen Court in Commack when a mortar-style firework exploded and struck him in the face.
The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening burns and lacerations to his face and head, officials said.
