NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – New York’s largest health care system, Northwell Health, announced on Wednesday the launch of its own filming studios, aiming to “humanize health care and spark meaningful social conversations.”

“We recognize the immense power of storytelling to connect with audiences on a deeper level,” said Ramon Soto, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Northwell Health. “Through entertainment, we can break down the walls of our hospitals, amplify the voices of our frontline heroes, and shed light on critical health and societal issues.”

Northwell Studios has entered a new development deal with Creative Artists Agency (CAA)-represented film and television production company CreativeChaos vmg to develop and co-produce both scripted and unscripted films.

New productions are already underway, featuring stories about Northwell’s clinical expertise, unique patient-centered programs, innovative technologies, and the brave and bold employees and patients who are at the heart of every story, according to the hospital system.

Northwell, the state’s largest private employer with over 85,000 employees, serves nearly 11 million people in the New York metro area.

In addition to partnering with CreativeChaos vmg, Northwell Studios will continue to collaborate with passionate filmmakers, writers, and creative visionaries driven to tell impactful stories that matter, a news release said. The studio also aims to partner with distributors to ensure these stories reach a wide and engaged audience.

This initiative builds on Northwell Health’s previous successes, including acclaimed documentaries like the Netflix series "Lenox Hill" and "Emergency NYC," and the Academy Award-shortlisted COVID-19 documentary "The First Wave."
