NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a 25-year-old man for boating while intoxicated after the boat he was operating struck a jetty on Long Island early Monday with one passenger who fell overboard still missing, according to Suffolk County police.
Jack Benjamin was charged with boating while intoxicated after the crash in the Great South Bay in Sayville that occurred at about 1:25 a.m.
Five passengers were riding with Benjamin in the boat at the time of the wreck including a 25-year-old man, who was not wearing a life jacket and was thrown overboard, officials said.
Personnel from multiple fire departments, officers, and Coast Guard officials began to search for the missing man, authorities said.
Marine Bureau officers are continuing the search, police added.
