Pedestrian, 57, fatally struck on Long Island highway: police

SHIRLEY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian on Long Island Tuesday night, authorities said.

At approximately 8:39 p.m., a 53-year-old man driving a 2016 Subaru eastbound in the travel lane of Montauk Highway in Shirley, when the vehicle struck Paul Moran, 57, who was traveling on foot southbound across Montauk Highway, officials said.


Moran was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not injured.

The Subaru was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
