GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn man was arrested this week for stealing packages from homes on Long Island after he was pulled over for having a cracked windshield, police said.
According to detectives, police observed a 2023 Toyota Prius traveling northbound on Red Ground Road in Old Westbury with a cracked windshield.
The car was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation, authorities said.
During the investigation, it was determined the vehicle was connected to multiple larcenies of packages that occurred on Sept. 10, within the village of Garden City.
The driver, Gia Kharshiladze, 38, of Homecrest, was arrested after he was found responsible for taking numerous packages from outside of residences throughout Nassau County.
Nassau County officials also found Kharshiladze to be responsible for larcenies at seven additional locations.
Kharshiladze was charged with 11 counts of petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket.
