
BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA charged a teen boy was charged with animal cruelty for a brutally beating a cat with a metal bar at a Long Island high school after video footage of the attack was uploaded to social media.
The teen was charged with animal cruelty for the incident after an extensive investigation following an initial complaint in September of 2023.
According to Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA, detectives recognized the 17-year-old boy student and Brentwood High School as the location of the incident when the video was taken.
In the graphic video, the teen can be seen beating a black cat who was yelping after being struck with the metal bar for no apparent cause, and resulted in severe traumatic injuries to the cat.
