NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office said Wednesday that she “will not be intimidated by bullies” after a Trump administration official referred her to the Justice Department for potential criminal prosecution over alleged mortgage fraud.

“Attorney General James is focused every single day on protecting New Yorkers, especially as this Administration weaponizes the federal government against the rule of law and the Constitution,” her office told 1010 WINS in a statement.

“She will not be intimidated by bullies no matter who they are,” the statement continued.

President Donald Trump’s federal housing director William Pulte sent a criminal referral to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy AG Todd Blanche on Monday, alleging James “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms.”

A criminal referral doesn't equate to criminal charges; it essentially notifies authorities of potential criminal activity.

The Trump War Room account on X, which is affiliated with Trump's team, posted the referral letter Tuesday evening.

James has repeatedly drawn Trump’s ire, most notably after she successfully brought a $464 million New York civil fraud judgment against him and his company.

"Letitia James, a totally corrupt politician, should resign from her position as New York State Attorney General, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday. “Everyone is trying to MAKE NEW YORK GREAT AGAIN, and it can never be done with this wacky crook in office.”
