AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County Police arrested an alleged drunk driver for leaving the scene of a fatal crash on Long Island Sunday night.
According to police, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a man was walking across Route 110 near Albany Avenue in Amityville when he was struck by a southbound vehicle and then struck again by a northbound 2020 Land Rover.
He was later identified by police as Santos Aguirre, 47, of Copiague and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both vehicles fled the scene, authorities said.
State troopers stopped the Land Rover on westbound Southern Parkway, near Exit 19, and charged the driver, 26-year-old Danielle Lapersonerie, with driving while intoxicated.
Lapersonerie was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving fatality.
She was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
